this is an original digital drawing/illustration made for print. the beatitude: “blessed are the peacemakers” got me thinking about how the words are not “peacekeepers” but “peacemakers” and what that means to be a peace maker. to me this means extending dignity, justice, love, and tolerance to our neighbors, community, and other humans, by learning and practicing acts of justice that lead to greater peace and enfranchisement of those who have been chronically and systemically left of kept out. peace is for all humans but it is not inevitable, we must do the work to bend the arc towards justice and subsequently peace.
